As a private limited company incorporated on 10 December 1975 under the name of Hume Industries (S) Sdn Bhd, it commenced operations in 1979 after setting up a plant in Kuching, Sarawak for the manufacture of concrete products.

In preparation for its listing on the Malaysia Securities Exchange Berhad ("MSEB"), the company was converted to a public company on 9 November 1993 and subsequently adopted its present name Sarawak Concrete Industries Berhad ("SCIB"). SCIB was listed on the Second Board of the MSEB on 3 August 1994.

SCIB is well known for professional management and has a long history of innovative ideas and technological advances. Coupled with its wealth of experience and research acquired in more than two decades, SCIB offers its clients in-depth expertise through a combination of technology, efficiency, speed and economy. Amongst the concrete products manufactured for use in the construction and infrastructure sectors are spun concrete pipe, reinforced concrete products, pre-stressed concrete products, pre-stressed spun concrete pile, reinforced concrete square pile and modular housing system.

SCIB has become a much-respected household name, a name synonymous with quality and service. With its commitment to quality, SCIB was awarded the ISO 9002:1994 quality documentation system in August 1998 and successfully upgraded to ISO9001:2000 version in May 2003.

With a long-term focus on growth, SCIB underwent a group rationalization exercise which resulted in a group corporate structure in 2001. From a manufacturing base, SCIB sets its sight on diversifying and expanding into property and infrastructure development.
